What is Island Crusade?

Incremental / pixel art

The Monster Tide took the Hundred Isles of Azurmer. The king sent what he had left: one peasant and an axe.

Your army starts with that peasant. He hits monsters, and so do you: tap or click a monster and your blow lands on it, on top of what the knights do.

Every monster drops gold. Gold hires knights: guards, archers, lancers, priests, then the orders with grand names, twenty in all, and every level makes them hit harder. Each island has ten waves, and the tenth is a boss with a timer. Beat it in time and the army sails on; miss it and you go back to train.

When the crusade stalls, the knights go home and offer the monsters' relics at the Relic Altar. The blessings stay, and the next crusade starts again from the first island, stronger than the last one.

Nothing moves while the game is closed: the islands are taken back while you play.

What's in it

The short list

  1. A hundred islands

Each one drawn for itself: meadows, pine forests, autumn woods, rocks, swamps, haunted isles and pirate coasts, with their own cliffs and camps.

  2. Ten waves and a boss

Every island ends with a boss and a 30-second timer. Lose, and you train on wave 9 until you're ready to try again.

  3. Twenty knights

From the Peasant to the Black Lord. Levels make them stronger, and level 10, then every 25 levels, multiplies their damage.

  4. Your own sword

Every tap or click is a blow, sometimes a critical one. On a phone, the sword strikes above your finger, so your finger never hides the monster.

  5. Five spells

Arrow Rain, Blessing, Gold Rush, War Horn and Divine Heal, each with its own recharge.

  6. The Royal Forge

Seven upgrades, from the Royal Sword to the Whetstone that sharpens your critical hits.

  7. The celestial sword and the Relic Altar

A giant golden sword falls from the sky and the island breaks into stars. Then you start again from the first island and offer your relics for nine lasting blessings: might, fortune, vigor, precision and a few more.

  8. The Underside (in development)

The first crusade cracks the world open. Below the sea lies a dark mirror of the kingdom, with a sea of blood and a second army of black knights that fights at the same time as yours. Its bosses drop Black Blood, spent on dark powers that help both armies.

  9. Twenty-two kinds of monster

Snakes and giant bees on the first islands, then gnomes, goblins, sharks with harpoons, gnolls, imps, bears, minotaurs and trolls.

In motion

Short loops, no sound

The Underside: the black army fights below the sea, while the crusade goes on in the corner.
A new crusade: the celestial sword falls, and the islands turn into stars.

Questions & answers

When does it come out?

We don't have a date yet. We'd rather give it when we're sure.

Where can I play it?

On Android first, coming soon on Google Play. It isn't there yet, and the game isn't released.

Is it an idle game?

No. Your knights fight on their own while the game is open, but nothing moves while it is closed.

Do I have to tap all the time?

No. The knights do most of the work. Your blows help, especially against a boss with little time left.

Where does the art come from?

The islands, knights and monsters are drawn with the Tiny Swords art by Pixel Frog, which we love.
